About Us

The Australian Cattle Dog

ACDs have immense work drive and excel at hunting, chasing, and, of course, moving livestock. Their boundless energy and supple gait make them excellent running partners. ACDs are true-blue loyal, famously smart, ever alert, and wary of strangers. If an ACD isn't challenged, he easily becomes bored and gets into mischief. It is recommended that ACD owners participate with their dog in some work, sport, or regular exercise to keep him mentally and physically fit. https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/australian-cattle-dog/

Beyond Breeding

Along with preserving this breed as a true working cattle dog, they are able to excel at many other sports. Agility, Fast CAT, Barn Hunt, Dock Diving, Disc, Tracking/SAR are some of the more common sports. australian cattle dog puppies https://www.akc.org/sports/

Health Testing

According to the OFA standard of ACD health testing, the minimal requirements are key to breeding a healthy dog. https://www.ofa.org/recommended-tests?breed=ACD

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Breed standard states an ACD must have its full tail. If you are looking for a bobbed tail breed the Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog has a naturally bobbed tail. Removal of the dew claws is a personal preference and not offered here.

ACDs are all born white and overtime will produce a red or blue color. Sometimes colors can be predicted if there are any face markings, but not known for sure until about 3-4 weeks of age.

Heeler is a coined term for the true breed's name, so there is no difference. Australian Cattle Dogs are know for nipping at the heels of almost anything (including you) as a way to gain control. Hence why most people call them 'heelers.'
